Not relevent to immigration, but, It is important for us to hold job. A lot of bleeding happening in financial segment and our jobs may be at risk.
These bailouts has been described by Professor Nouriel Roubini as "privatization of profit and socialization of losses" (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/US_govt_spends_900b_to_take_over_failing_cos/articleshow/3495793.cms). I think communists are as "socialization of profits as well as losses".
My couple of friends are expert in FIX (Financial Information eXchange) and were asking me to move in that area. Now, I am not sure to put it on hold or entirely shelve it. But this is just an idea, how we could be affected by this downturn and priorities can change.

it is a slow process. This recurring contribution is a good process in long run. We will inspire our members to contribute. This will grow in to thousands eventually. Keep up the good work with our core objectives.

As everyone could see on this thread, only few members have signed up for recurring contributions. We sent emails to all 8000+ members and the emails are still bouncing. Members have put fake email addresses. Despite repeated requests members have not updated their profile. In future when we send out updates by email or phone, such members will not get any updates too.
Since yesterday more than 2000 members have visited IV site and read this thread. We did not even get 1/100th of members signing up for this and contributing as little as $20.

It is my feeling that "Illegals>5 years" should not be preferred over "legals<5 years".

Or just because you are not in the category, you think only you deserve to live a "respectable" "decent" life, and others should wait in line until you are satisfied. That way of looking at things is exactly the way Citizens look at green cards, people will green card look at non-green holders, people with H1/L1 look at illegals. And that behavior or way of looking at others can described in one phrase - "I'm better than you." And when rules are changed, and we can no longer subscribe t that "false" notion of "I'm better than you.", you think there is something wrong with the bill.
What is wrong with the bill that gives everything that you want, and in addition to it, gives that "illegal alien" what he deserves, not on the grounds of a degree, which is merely a piece of paper, but on the grounds of how humans ought to treat other humans? I think you don't understand. USCIS has no control over the Visa bulletin. The reason India EB3 is doomed because of the percountry limitations set by DOS.
Congress need to change that rule not USCIS.

I think -We have to come to our senses. The law wants to treat us as slaves. Do the work and go back. They do not want to give the opportunity to have the american dream. They do not have problem with mexicans, or arabic country people, or anybody. All they want is - we do not want smart talented ones to take our white collar jobs.
We are screwed by our Desi employers, the law. We do it for $. So it is really upto us to choose from. Money or respect.
When I see fellow indians, at the age of 40, I feel pity. Most of us would see that they are in dilema as what to do. What they are doing is correct. They live a succumbed life.

Hi Guys I'm pretty new in all this and i've been following this discussion and perhaps someone can help me.... here is the question.... Do I have a visa number available ?? If so why am I waiting that long??
here is my story:
i'm EB3 world - got my labor pd is 05/2002, and I concurrent filled I-485/I-140 on 05/2003.... already made 2 fingerprints..... I-140 was approved on 12/2005 (TSC).... i renew my EAD every year since I filled.
if what you guys are saying is correct that in order to accept the I-485 to be filled USCIS need to have a visa number available to the applicant.... y am I still waiting?? :confused:

Mine reached on July 2nd 9:01 AM. I don't think they must have rejected any application. I think, if someone is saying "rejected" means USCIS refused to accept the fedex, in which case package should be returned back to lawyers in 3/4 days.
If your package was accepeted by USCIS then it would be on hold and based on yesterday's news, now it should be ready for processing. I am checking this with couple of lawyers and I will update this thread with anything I find out.

I agree with you totally. But the sad part is, Try going the normal straight way & nobody entertains you when the companies hear the word "H4". All the work experience gathered over the years suddenly seems like crap in front of the visa status.

However, in most cases, since desi employers are also the GC sponsors of the primary bread-winner of the family, that opportunity of working for a better employer is passed up by many employees.

I spoke with the immigration guy at my ex employers place. My 140 was indeed revoked. He doesnt know the date when it was revoked. He is certain the 140 sponsoring employer is willing to employ me. This means I can get an Employment Verification Letter from him.
Will this cause a concern with USCIS as
1. This company applies for 140
2. Revokes an approved 140 when employee quits
3. Is again willing to offer the job
Should I take AC21 route instead as I have an offer with the company B.
If your ex-employer already revoked I-140, how can he give employment verification letter now? He is saying that he is no-longer intend to employ you in the revokation , on the other hand he is giving offer letter now. It is contradictory; it will appear to CIS that you & your employer is doing fradulant practice. If the I-140 was already revoked, then there is no use from it, unless if it is revoked after 180 days of your 485 pending. If it is revoked after 180 days, you can use your new employment to port the job based on AC21 to keep the 485 valid. Otherwise forget it.

But if you need bigger participation from IV members, the conf. call idea should have been in the General Forum as well....
