My GC got approved almost a three weeks ago. I stayed with my employer through the whole GC process till now. Now I want to move on with better job/salary.
My attorney suggested to stay with the company for atleast 6 months as it may cause issues during the citizenship application. He also mentioned, employer has the right to revoke the approved green card.
Is it really true, employer can revoke the green cards, just merely for switching jobs.
I have my doubts that they can. Did anyone else heard anything similar.
I tried looking at the web but could not find any written law by USCIS on this.

Great point arihant. What all of us have to remember is that even if we don't have voting powers, if we can prove that it is in the interest to USA to change these antiquated laws, the lawmakers will act. That is precisely what we are doing currently with the help of QGA.

That I heard too!! GCs were distributed at Monument but I was late as I could only join at Captol Hill :p so got only FP notice.
I'm waiting for next Rally to get my GC ... :D

Mine was filed in NSC on July 24th, I140/485 only got transfered to TSC on Sept 14th, Got EAD from CSC on Sept 21, AP from CSC on Sept 25, FP notice on Sept 29th for october 16th.

So jsb if congressman and Ombudsman doesnt work either is there anything which will work ? Can one actually go physically to the Service Center and ask to speak to the PRO (Public relations officer) or something ?
I have heard on this forum someone doing that, i.e. flying to Texas and asking to meet those who matter. Initially they did not entertain him, but eventually he succeeded. It costs nothing trying via the Ombudsman route, may be a bit if a hassle via the Congressman route. You should try both. Mention your situation, clearly bringing out the anomally. Ask if you are cleared on all fronts and your PD is current what is holding up. It might work....Best of luck.

1. This is what I don't understand. The original discussion was that getting an EVL is a bother. Now are you saying there should be another document people would need to apply for as proof of identity? Wouldn't that be an even greater bother?
2. Now, since the drivers license is used as proof of identity, it is necessary to ensure that criminal elements do not get it. Which includes illegal / out of status immigrants who could also be a security risk. Employment verification ensures that the person holding the H1 or H4 visa is in valid immigrant status. Which is why they ask you for the EVL even while stamping the visa. That is the security angle. Seriously...this is all fairly obvious stuff. The govt just wants to make it difficult for illegal / out of status aliens to get a drivers license. What is wrong with that? The funniest comment on this forum from somebody who was ruing that he couldn't bribe someone here for a license like he could do in India. Really? Do you want people driving on US roads who bribed their way to a license?

It took a Martin Luther King to liberate blacks from slavery.
It took Mahatma Gandhi to get Independence for millions of Indians.
I am not assuming all individuals will have the same level of dignity and self respect. If you lack enough self respect, you will probably say US can ask us to wear a chain around our neck just because we are non-immigrants.

The anchor started off the interview by making a reference to "hi tech workers" and that some of these folks were in the British terror plot !! "Why are you filing the lawsuit when your client can apply for the GC in Oct?" !!Anyway, the attorney was quite articulate in explaining the issue. Guess who followed the attorney ... Rep Tom Tancredo who called this a "minor inconvenience" before stating he wants all immigration to be halted!!

it is an acceptable proof, they said they have a rule that if the document has no expiration date, they can only give you a driver license with validity 6 months beyond the receipt date of your document (with the wild assumption that any I-485 application is approved or denied within 6 months)
In some of States they accept EAD also which can be valid upto two years. But any way it is pain.

My Infopass appt. is next week in baltimore. My EAD & AP are still pending for both me and my wife. 90 days was y'day.! USCIS recd. our EAD & AP applications on 8/7.
I have scheduled my appt. for tuesday morning. I could provide only my info (A# and receipt #) online - can i take my wife along too although she hasn't officially scheduled a appt for tuesday with me.? Do you know if they may object when we have filled ii only 1 person online but 2 show up for the appt.?

I think you should not face any problem. I went alongwith my wife (Although I took appintmnet for 4 but my children did not come for obvious reason - school day) and Guard, Guy at window or lady at the counter none of them asked a single question to my wife. So I believe if your wife come alongwith during an appintment, you should not face any problem. All in all for me total process was not more than 30 -40 minutes. So in case if they hesitate to let her in she can wait outside either in a car or in waiting room (Assuming Baltimore has same facility as Dallas)

I disagree with the first part of your statement. There are no guarantees in life. But, giving unsolicited advice especially without knowing what happened in their marital life is no good. Only he and his spouse would know what happened and it is completely up to them to decide what is good for them. He has clearly told in his post that he has given his best and it is at a point of no return. Only people who go thru this grueling experience can understand how hard it is.
