My EB2 was rejected initially but later approved due to Sheila's evalaution of my CA degree equivalent to master's degree. I did not know her but my lawyer insisted to get it done through her. She was good for me.

It is not true that Many people have to wait 10+ years to get gc. May be some people might wait for 10 years because of frequent change of jobs , layoffs and also ignorance of green card processing. Most of the time EB2 waiting time is 2 to 3 years. Indian EB3 is in worst situation but only for past 2 years and before that everything was current. For that also most waiting persons filed I 485 because of July VB issue. In my opinion EB3 PD will be backdated up to 5 years.
Also there is no legistrative activity in Congress about any immigration issue. Always skil bill comes in limelight when congress is in Session. But everyone knows that skil bill is asking too much in H1b and immigration numbers because of exemptions and it will be very difficult task. But no one in pro immigrant community is ready to compromise on numbers. When Congress tries to curb the abuse of H1b even pro immigrants are opposing the bills without any suggestion of any alternatives. If some bill comes for only GC that too moderate increase in numbers that will have bright chance of passing in congress.
You should not expect any rally will produce meaningful reform. It has to be proved that additional immigrant and H1b numbers will produce more jobs and it should not create unemployment in americans.Just sufferings of gc waiters is not enough. My opinion is Rally will be used to show strength of IV and may educate public and Congress. But anti immigrants also doing Similar Campaign(not big rallies) by negative points of immigration. The same congress till the end of 2008 and I doubt they will consider any immigration issue till new congress comes in 2009 that is not too far from now. But it is always good to try all the time.
Before any reform comes most IV members may get GC.

But we can make huge impact on their mind that they have to address this issue, they can not simply ignore us

That actually might be a good idea. These companies that mess with employees and take advantage of their visa status, should be taught such a torrid lesson that any other freakin desi consultants will think twice b4 messing with their employees. It's a sad thing that we Indians exploit other Indians in the name of "It's JUST Business".

As DOS has posted the NVC backlog numbers as on November 1, 2009, if the core team look at it and update the analysis. This data is not categorized via month but still may be helpful in prediction.

I am writing to you (in your capacity as a judiciary committee member) to bring a recent action by the department of state that wrecked the hopes of many tax paying, employment based legal immigrants.
The New York Times carried an excellent editorial regarding the State department's actions:

As a legal tax paying resident of Masachusetts since 10 long years, I have been eagerly waiting my turn in the line for a green card, putting lot of very important life decisions on hold. This latest bait and switch has made me totally disillusioned with the immigration system and I have started looking for opportunities to apply my skills in my home country instead.
For the sake of fellow legal immigrants who have been impacted though, I am hoping you can look into this matter and try to influence the department of state to correct its action. Rep.Lofgren has already issued a statement in this regard. http://lofgren.house.gov/PRArticle.aspx?NewsID=1808

It is one of the most well written editorials from a renowned source. (You might have to register to see it). Everyone should try to send emails via the above link to their own Senators and Congressman, along with various Congressmen on the House Judicial Committee (Subcommittee on Immigration). http://judiciary.house.gov/committeestructure.aspx?committee=4 .
The House.gov web site does not accept email from anyone outside their respective constituency. The Chairperson is from San Jose CA while the other members are from CA, VA, MA, TX, IL, etc. If you are from one of these places, you need to emphasize the importance to them and also mention that we are the next wealthy voting block of the future elections and we will remember them. Now only a Congressional oversight can save us from the USCIS created crisis.

There should be support from most congress person for any bill to pass. All IV members should call the local congress person and request them to support the pro legal immigration bills.

^^This is not gonna happen... and even if it did....well I guess the companies will finally take notice when there are no new people to hire and fire and their bottom lines are hit with permanent hires for every small and odd project......guess what that they will do then....outsource more work to other countries......:)

I am wondering everybody here is throwing stones at small consulting companies, I wonder how these people came to US surely somebody did there H1? right? People are working in big companies HP/Oracle/SAP bla bla.. but I'm sure they are not the ones who brought you guys here. Also the day they'll get their green cards each of these people are going to open similar companies and do the same thing. This is amazing how people forget their past and forget the people who brought them here...I will call you guys thankless....

Dont let people come here and not pay them / treat them as slaves on contract etc. Look at all the postings (go to murthy's web site--you will see many) Employer not paying, etc etc. In such case whats difference between an illegal hotel worker and these mistreated H1bs. I stay in an apartment OK. One day my neighbour (living downstairs) was crying with his wife and a small kid. You want to know the reason--NO PAY FOR 2 MONTHS!!!!. All his hard earned money was finished paying rent, OK and his kid was sick. No money, nobody to ask. His contractor said WAIT, WAIT and nothing else. Having personally seen this situation, I am a little concerned. Why would you be concerned in asking infosys to disclose the usage of H1bs procurred by them?? If its used properly there shouldn't be any issue. Now how microsoft uses the H1b is more transparent. How many of u working for microsoft have had any issues???
