Totally agree that an average cop would have no idea about approved H1-B petition, AOS etc. and would be a big training issue.
But... your experience with the consular officer., not quite surprised. Being a Dept of State employee, she has no reason to know nor has mandate on immigration enforcement laws or their intricacies. That is the arena of the DHS. Somehow, for us DHS/DOS is all one.

My manager surprised me today saying that I was promoted yesterday from a programmer analyst to a systems analyst. I have an approved i-140 and have filed my 485. My priority date for EB3 is current. I also have a 3 year extension of H1B.
There is no change in the job responsibilities.
Question:
1. How soon should I file my AC21 request?
2. What is the impact of this promotion on my H1B?
3. I have waited for 7 years and I may be close to getting my Green Card. How does the AC 21 impact my pending 485?

Has anyone thought of the people who missed the august 17 deadline because the labor was not cleared within time. Because of no mistake from ourside, we have to suffer. What a screwed up legal situation ?

The one consolation is that once you get to file your 485, you should not spend too much time in that pending 485 situation.
So if you ask me today, would I rather have filed 485 with a PD of 2006/7 or be in your situation, as bleak as your situation looks today, the better choice might be your situation.

Hi, our first set of APs are expired and we never renewed since we did not plan to go out of the US. Now we need to apply for new AP, is it possible to apply online or since w eMUSt apply by mail since we don't have a valid AP at present.

Yeah, the Nebraska one is on the same date as last month, I guess I should count my blessings. God, what are they doing over there!? Maybe it's because it's summer time and people are going on vacation-less people, less work getting done.

The discussion seems to be focused on getting a certification to add to your resume. I am a PMP too, have delivered several small projects.

yes I have, I have been a contributing member from Apr 2006 when there just a handful of members. I have so far contributed 450 dollars in regular intervals of 100, 50. We also took up the talk to senator campaign in our state and met our 13 district congressman and senators from WA and explained IV's position. I have also provided input to IV core on how to contact them in DC. My wife regularly posts IV messages in orkut where she is an active member. I used to put my contribution in my signature until I read a post where people were complaining on putting up the signature. I plan to use my miles for me and my wife to go to DC if I get my time off approved. I had planned to go on 13th. I have gotten 10 contributing members to join IV so far. If you still have doubts on my IV contributions, let me know and I will be more than happy to do a public disclosure on my funds contributed!

I am traveling this month end to India via Frankfurt. I am on AP. I checked with German consulate in US and officer told me we need transit visa both ways (going and coming back). there are no exceptions. He confirmed the same twice when I went in person to get Transit visa.
I would rather listen to German consulate office rather than interpreting stupid sentences on German consulate web site. So please do get Transit visa with 2 entries.

In fact, In BLR I saw that even Air France also does not require transit visa for Paris and allowed people with AP to board without transit visa. So folks, dont waste time and money on transit visa. As we enter the final week of our rally preparation we would like to thank our members that have indicated that they would be coming for the rally. We also want to thank all state chapter and action item leaders for helping us out in this massive effort. This planning, coordination and implementation cannot happen without the help of each and every member. Help has ranged from phone call campaigns, publicity campaigns, media campaigns, lawmaker meetings, banner preparations, Merchandise set up, state chapter activities, Bus initiatives, Transportation and accommodation initiatives, sponsorships, reaching out to law offices and like minded organizations etc to tasks as important as deciding the Dinner menu for the Sept 17 event.
We still have a long way to go in our planning and implementation. IV membership is working hard to make this rally a success. The Sept 17th lobby day work is being implemented at this time and lawmaker office appointments are being sought. Everyone that has indicated their presence for this event will be contacted this week. We are planning a big reception event on September 17, from 6PM to 9PM at the Cannon Building in DC. IV members, lawmakers, staffers, industry leaders and other like minded organizations are expected to attend this event. It will be a great opportunity for IV members to meet these important representatives. There is also going to be a big Press event on Sept 18th that we are planning. There are several initiatives being taken to have a big media push for the rally. The rally is in itself a huge task that requires planning from getting all police permits (which we already have) to transporting rally material, providing registration opportunity for members, getting lawmakers to address the rally to details like stage and sound system.
All this has required IV to invest heavily. We already invest almost all in our lobbying efforts and remaining little in Website maintenance till now and somehow manage to run this organization on shoestring budgets. We need about 30 thousand dollars in the next 8 days to make sure we can meet our needs and also make a big impact via this rally. This rally will most certainly bring our issues to the national center stage and help us get much needed immigration relief.
This post urges everyone to come forward and help us in this short term funding drive. If you have not contributed till now, please consider contributing. If you have got your Receipt notice/FP notice/EAD etc. then do show your admiration for our combined effort via lobbying, San Jose rally and Flower campaign that enabled everyone to file their I485s. I got LUDs on 2/10 on both mine and my wife's 485. My wife got an RFE email on 02/13. I do not know what this means either...
Looks like lot of EB-3 applications who filed 485 at the end of june got LUDs last week, some with RFE and some just soft LUD.

Seems like everyone losing hope including core - as someone else said above its really sad to see this. Please dont lose hope at this critical moment else all of our efforts for last two years will go waste.
I cant imagine how much time/effort has been put into this effort by core members (as a relatively inactive member I myself could have easily spent several hundred hours on these forums in last year and half; and atleast some time in calling/faxing etc.). After all these efforts and seeing the current bill its understandable to get deeply disappointed. But dont lose hope yet. Its not over.
Logiclife - coming this from you really shook me. At one point you were so confident that having our measures in any future CIR is but gauranteed - we thought its just a matter of time. All of us were also thinking that we are in a better position to introduce and enact amendments in this congress. We still have time (2 weeks) for amendments - why are we thinking about alternate arrangements and slowly losing hope. Does this show our level of confidence now or this thread is meant for some light hearted fun?
