Congrats alterego !
Are you both physicians ? (the J-1's)
Looking at your RD reminds me of a friend of mine who has a I-485 RD of Dec 2004, but he is in EB3. Unfortunately his NameCheck was not clear even in the July 2007 fiasco, the reason he is still not green !
He and his wife recently sold their house and everything else and left their jobs and moved back to India! Enjoying themselves there while their I-485 application papers turn yellow !
You paid 68K for legal and immigration fees... that is steeep man ! I wonder how...
bought a car to visit the attorney :D:D

NKR - Sorry, I wasn't very clear and it got misunderstood.
What I am trying to say is that whether GC takes 1 years or 5years, it is worth the wait IMHO. If I have to do all over again knowing it could take 5-6 years, I will do it. But that's just my personal opinion.
How are things going on your side, NKR? Good Luck.
I am an early 2004 EB2 filer. I am hoping that mine would get approved at least before Oct. My EAD, AP, H1 and DL is getting expired in Oct. Glad to know that citizenship is making a difference in your life. I am happy for you. Good Luck

I have been a IV member since 2006 . I have seen the ups/downs . donated money , sent letters , attended rallies and done whatever has been been proposed . But I see that many senior members who had the drive to motivate people are not sending or being part of any messages or threads at all and that is exactly why the movement seems to be losing steam .
The standard response that I see to any question is "have you donated money ? " . "Don't ask for anything till you have donated. " this is followed by some some red dots which normally works to silence the questions. People will be willing to donate when they believe in the movement . I remember we collected $ 30,000 in 1 month before the rally there was huge thread with all the donations . People were charged up and the money came up automatically . I am willing to donate but to be brutally honest I do not see the same level of motivation as was there in 2006 / 2007 days .Please use this as a wakeup call and not as reason to vent your frustration on me .
There are many senior members who I do not even see any more . Members joining in late 2007 or early 2008 will not know any of these guys .
Aman Kapoor . He is the founder of IV . I have not seen his messages since the past 3 years almost . Where is he ? Is it too much for him to send a greeting in New years eve motivating the members ? It takes just 2 minutes .
Mark Bartosik :- He was supposed to the spokesperson for IV .The guy with the MasterCard sign for immigration . I have not seen him for quite some time now
Where are the other senior leaders like
a) Walden Pond
b) There was a this British Girl from San Jose ( had a handle which had name like Rose or something )
c) Niloufer Bustani from Dallas. I see her once in a while but very sparingly .
The others even I have forgotten completely.
The only leadership/core that I see is Pappu and no one else . If you have a country where the prime minister shows his face only once in 4 years , how are the people supposed to believe in that movement ? Please don't reply with a message saying what have I done or why can't I contribute money ? I have done that I am looking for leadership to show us the way and motivate us . All campaigns don't need money donations( Letters , calls , faxes etc ) . We could start with that and then drum up support and momentum and then the money will start flowing in automatically . There has to be a synchronized campaign organized by the leadership and all I see is everybody putting their eggs in the basket called spillover.
Precisely,
they ask me for monthly contributions and I ask them to hold something big, a rally or something first, as I was not July2007 filer. That's why I am stopping to come here now. To ask for contributions, IV must hold something big,

All the wasted numbers can be recaptured when recapture bill passes!!!!
I believe it will be the same old story. They will wait till last quarter and then will waste thousands of visa numbers because of their darn slow processing hands and we people will again start talking optimism from Oct 2010.
What happened to the IV's talk with USCICS on spillover policies? Does anybody know?

Thanks Caliguy for all your help.
I was able to talk to IO in TSC. Very nice IO (male). He really took time to look into my case.
First he said my case is preadj. , Than he mentioned my I-140 is under EB3 as per computer records.
I told him, i have the copy of my approved I-140 and it is under EB 2 category. he put me on hold for like 4-5 minutes. Came back and said he has passed on the info to IO looking into my case . He asked me for Receipt, alien # ets. on my I-140 BUT God Darn it, i didint have the document with me at that time. He said, i could call, ad give it to IO . I was so MAD!!!
After 30 minutes of searching, i found my approved I140 from 2006.
I called POJ method Less than 2 minutes i spoke to IO ....they dont disclose the name.
I explained my situation again and gave him all the info .He even asked my contact phone no.
i gave it to him.
I dont know , what to do next. Do you think they really pass in the info to IO reviewing the case?
Should i call on Monday.
Man! this weekend will be a GRIND!
I wish , i had the I140 handy.
So all of you there,
Learn from my mistake...please have all the documents with you....you never know, what they will ask for.
Thanks again Caliguy!!!!
Sorry to hear about your lack of documents. Once I didn't have the receipts # for 140 (well, my lawyer never gave me a copy of 140 approval anyways, thankfully, I had created a case status update after filing in my portfolio, that is how I was able to "save" 140 receipts #'s forever) but , coming back to point, IO just read off the screen that company XXX filed your petition on date XXX and confirmed that there are two 140's.
Please fax your information to NCSC too as they do take a look at received faxes.

Skilled, Legal Immigrants To March In A Protest Rally In Silicon Valley
July 12, 2007
What
Hundreds of legal, highly-skilled workers, who feel disappointed by the recent "flip-flop" enacted by the Department of State (DoS) and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), with regards to eliminating the Green-Card processing delays, plan to stage a peaceful rally to bring attention to their issues and to demand a fair and equitable treatment.
Where
The New City Hall 200 E Santa Clara St San Jose, CA 95113
When
July 14th, 2007.
Planned Route
11:00 AM: Meet at San Jose City Hall at 200 E Santa Clara St.
11:30 AM: Go to the square in front of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library (150 E San Fernando St).
12:30 PM: Walk towards 635 N 1st St through S 4th St, E San Carlos St, Market Street and N 1st Street.
1:15 PM: Arrive at 635 N 1st St and stay till 2:00 PM
2:30 PM: back to City Hall
Why
Silicon Valley is the world’s most advanced crucible of innovation, an example that countries all over the world have tried to emulate. The success of Silicon Valley as a global hub of innovation has a lot to do with it being the world’s foremost melting pot of highly skilled immigrants. In San Jose, the heart of Silicon Valley, these highly skilled, legal immigrants who want to continue that tradition of innovation by becoming permanent residents of this country will stage a peaceful protest rally to bring awareness and attention to their issues.
The people gathered at this peaceful walk are already huge contributors to the innovation edge of the US but their potential is still not fully tapped as it is still being hindered by unreasonable delays and bottlenecks in the process of gaining permanent residency (green-card).
With this effort, the skilled, legal immigrant community hopes to create awareness about their predicament and express their anguish and frustration at the reversal and the lack of action from the Government. These are the highly skilled workers who have been driving the innovation in the US for many decades and have been living in this country legally and yet, they feel that their issues, concerns and contributions to the economy have largely gone unnoticed. According to exhaustive research done by Vivek Wadhwa, executive-in-residence at Duke University, if highly skilled immigrants in the U.S. don't have a chance to stay here permanently, would-be entrepreneurs take their skills back to their home countries—where they compete with U.S. companies instead of founding them.
There are 140,000 Green cards allocated for highly-skilled workers and their dependents in a fiscal year (unused visas may not be rolled over to the next year). However, due to over-subscription, thousands of highly-skilled workers, including engineers, scientists, MBAs and health care professionals have been waiting patiently for years in order to be eligible to apply for their Green cards.
Now, these highly-skilled professionals have decided to call attention to the "broken" immigration system in the U.S. for legal immigrants. Earlier this week – the community received widespread attention when hundreds of them sent flowers to the USCIS Director, Emilio Gonzalez. With the San Jose rally, the community of skilled, legal immigrants wants to put focus on people who have abided by the law, played by the rules and ask for a fair treatment and attention to their issues.

It is appalling to see how quickly people jump to conclusions. If you don't have any good information to share then you should not waste other's time to insert such replies. What makes you to think that I am scared of talking to attorney? I have been in this struggle for last six years, you have no idea what people have been through.. It is just speculation that it will take 10 years or 15 years. Actually past 3 years atleast 50% h1 were used by TCS,WIPRO and similar companies. So those who are processing gc is less. But it may take some time to clear current backlog as we had 195k H1 cap till 2003. If 65k h1 cap is there then it will be 3 year waiting period for EB2 and 4 to 5 year for Eb3. People will speculate based on number of H1s. But their calculation is not including the number of people who are giving up and also many people are going back. But if they increase H1 then the situation may become worse. I think one time releif will be enough to resolve the issue for
next 5 years. But Skil bill is asking too much(May be for permanent resolution of
gc issue) and opposition is more as anti immigrants are quoting the numbers. Remember in 2000 the relief of recapturing previous few years did not attract
large opposition and passed easily. Simlarly if H1 increase also limited for 2 or 3 years that can be passed easily as we can convince Senators like Sessions.
But if we keep on asking so many numbers of H1 and Gc and also exemptions
for Master degree then we have to wait for CIR as this will have lesser impact
in numbers compared to illegal immigrants.
Yes, you made a very good point. I totally agree with you. Most people here do not really care about the fundamental immigration reform as long as they can get their GCs. Maybe instead of asking for SKIL which is very controversial, we should just ask for visa number increase for a specific period, for example, 5 years. That will solve our problem and is less controversial. After 5 years, all of us here should have had our GCs. The rest of the problem can be left to other people.

Hi BECsufferer,
This time i completely disagree with you.
There has been asset bubble in Indian properties due to cheap money.
Read the following excerpt from March 2008.
" The yen carry trade is a cheap money gambit that exploits the extraordinarily low borrowing rates available in Japan. It is notoriously hard to quantify but is understood to have supported a series of the asset bubbles around the world in the past few years, from Indian property to fine wine and art
Japan's low interest rates, an anomaly in the financial world, result from Japanese central bank monetary policy, which has, Richard Jerram, the Macquarie economist, said, defied orthodox economic thinking for more than 20 years
Not just realtors, but banks, Tatats, birlas and to some extent Reliance will fall prey to the folly they made between 2005 and 2007.
They borrowed Billions of dollars for their oversees acquisitions which are yen denominated.
NO wonder why INdian markets are collapsing even though the Indian market is de-coupled.
Hope this explains why there won't be any property value appreciation for next few years in India as well as anywhere on this planet earth.
Sri;
As i said in my note, my comments are strictly directed towards markets in North India such as Greater Mohali or Ludhiana. Their had been some instances of mega-builders pulling out of mega-commercial projects such as Mohali inter-State Bus Terminal. But on same note, recent auction of commercial land by GMADA saw prices not fore-seen by general public. As rarely does anyone in north India believes on financial or non-financial promisary notes, as we do here in USA. So for individual buyers, it all boils down to cash transaction.
My suggestion, as someone noted their is 25% appreciation of USD, is to invest in india preferbly in partnership with someone you know and can trust.

Actually, not all he said was wrong.
We should not support what these IT consulting companies are doing with H1B programme just because we are on H1. These big companies are hoarding H1B visas so they can have an upperhand when dealing with the employees.
My own employer was trying to get as many H1s as possible without having ANY work for them. They sent us all a few emails asking us if we had any family or friends back home who want to come to US on H1. These guys make the H1 applicants pay for the application expenses, then just keep them there or get them here and keep them on bench and almost everybody here is familiar with what happens next.
Think from an American's point of view.. It is THEIR country, THEY make the laws that benefit their society and economy.. they have all the right to stand up against these practices by foreign based companies..
I like his statement "H1B is supposed to be used when there IS a job but no American to do it" What these Consulting companies have turned it into is "There is a person on H1B avaliable If and when there is a job to do" OR worse "There is an H1B holder available, on bench, but no job to do"
I totally support reform in the H1 process with a target to reduce fraud. That will ultimately benefit people like us who will come here on H1B in future.
Please don't fire me for taking his side, I'm not. I'm in favour of market deciding what it needs, but I'm 100% against fraud, and all of know these so called consulting companies ARE indulging in fraud..
Cannot agree more on the fraud prevention . Increasing the H1B application fees is not way of preventing fraud .This is punishing the small innovative companies from catching up and importing much needed talent .Keep the same fees , catch the fraudsters and make an example of them to others .
We should not support what these IT consulting companies are doing with H1B programme just because we are on H1. These big companies are hoarding H1B visas so they can have an upperhand when dealing with the employees.
