There used to be a time when the ability to apply for I485 even during retrogression. was of the highest priority for IV. Now majority of the IV members (hopefully) belong to post I485 filing group. Now the amount of green cards for employment category, exemptions from quota for family members, US degree holders etc, and country quota may be the higher priority issues if one goes by the numbers.
You mean to say that "Those who have EAD with PD 2006/2007" needs green Card and you dont bother about PD 2000-2005 from Backlog who never got a chance to apply i-485 ?
Moral: Allow the people to suffer who are suffering and let others make merry(PD 2006-2007).

I copied your content to post on the whitehouse.gov website. Thank you.
Emailed the same also to my local Congresswomen.
Posted the letter to whitehouse address with the following contents:
"I am writing to inform you of how the country based quotas imposed on Employment Based green cards are unfair and illogical. I came to the US with the belief that this country is a meritocracy where you are judged based on your abilities and qualities. These country based quotas judge people based on their place of birth. This causes people from India and China to wait over a decade to get a green card whereas someone from another country with similar or lesser abilities can obtain permanent residence in a fraction of that time. Lack of permanent residency has made me hesitant to buy a house or to do any long term investments in US and I want to get out of this limbo at the earliest.
My requests to you are:
1. Eliminate country level quota on Green Cards (to reduce the backlog of permanent resident applicants)
2. Recapture unused permanent visa numbers from the past (to allow USCIS to issue permanent visas to eligible applicants whose applications have been processed and pre-adjudicated)
3. Issue 5-year EAD cards (to reduce workload on USCIS of administrative renewals)
4. Issue 5-year Advanced Parole document (to allow people like me stuck in the backlog to travel back and forth from USA without having to renew AP every year)
I believe in President's slogan "Yes, we can!"."

From that article:
""We should remember, these are people who've been living here in the U.S. with green cards for at least five years. And so it doesn't make sense that a delay is going to protect us from any national security threats," Wang said."
That is how stupid current system. I think it is to satisfy a bunch of paranoid conservative voters.

Sorry to hear that. I think it really depends on the Country of origin. Neither me nor my friends had any problems at the Embassy in Panama.

All the Junior members. You asked your question and made yourself known.
Can I ask a simple question? Have you contributed or planning to do? Even a simple $20 contribution will go a long way in helping IV(I know you are capable of contributing in excess of $20 because you earn well). Don't be shy. Use Paypal.

:D:D:D That's funny.
Maybe he can come under asylum or refugee status; after all he also probably has two mother-in-laws there and that should qualify. One is bad enough, but TWO?
Its hard to maintain such a situation (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0205968/), he will have to make a call and decide on a winner (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0207341/).

There should a seperate quota for immigrants from Jhumri Talliya
In the same lines as H1B, could we look into if its possible to add a quota for US Masters degree holders irrespective of country of birth for green Card also. This would be in addition to the existing Employment based quotas.
Does anyone know how they added 20k H1B quota for Masters degree holders? Who sponsored that bill? May be we should talk to the same people.
I would think there would be a little less resistance for this? This would ease the pressure on both EB2 and EB3.
I dont know if this has been previously looked at. I know there were talks of excluding these people from quota all together.

Keep in mind that it is higly likely that DOS has changed its strategy of releasing visa numbers starting this year. Previously, they would release numbers per quarter. But this time, from all accounts it appears they have moved away from that model to improve USCIS efficiency. They may have released almost all of the annual quota by now.
http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3925.html
Check the Feb 2007 visa bulletin where they made EB2 India Unavailable as the annual quota was over. It came back again only because there was spillover from ROW.
Based on this, it is very unlikely that there will be much forward movement in July.
if they did what u say they did.. they violated the law. thats what gotcher is talking about. plus using up 140k visas without a substantial impact being seen on the forums is highly unlikely.
last year in june and july when they issued 60k visas there was huge spike in approvals and it was seen on the forums/on /IV/ immigration portal.
there has not been such an observed event this year. the reason eb2 india went to U was because they had used up the quota associated with per country caps and the category and quarter sub quotas.
what we are seeing now/ will see in this fiscal year will be spill over visas. where it occurs is anybody's guess.

This is an outstanding job done to be presented to the CIS. Hopefully, IV members can convince CIS for immigration reform and make the quarterly spillover happen soon.

What is the effectivity date of this memo?
May 30th or June 1st?
See this..from immigration-law.com
However, the release of this new supplemental AC-21 probably implies that the rule-making agenda may be pushed off and may not be enacted this year. Please stay tuned.

was it EB2 or EB3?
It was EB2. The vast majority of the CA's we show equivalent to a US bachelor's degree. However in this case since it is officially recognized as a PGD a professor felt it was equivalent to a US masters and USCIS agreed. As a rule I would say CA=BA + 5 years work exp is a better way to go for EB2.

Sheela,
when did this happen to you? Is it in the recent past or way back, looking at your post, it seems it was way back. Please confirm as lot of us think this is a recent development as we haven't heard anything about this until this thread.
It was in sept 07.

Did you come to america for Horizontal growth...................ie to increase your girth?
You could easily do that in india these days. Some comments here are plain funny!
India has a lot of people with wide girths? All the images I see of India shows pretty skinny people. Or maybe I was looking at pics of Ethiopians....
